What Makes Mandalika Special
A Circuit Like No Other
Mandalika International Street Circuit is not your typical racetrack. Carved into the southern coastline of Lombok, Indonesia, this 4.3-kilometre circuit threads between resort hotels, through palm-lined boulevards, and along cliff edges overlooking the Indian Ocean. It is the only street circuit in the world where you can see the ocean from nearly every corner.
MotoGP Heritage
Since hosting its first MotoGP round in 2022, Mandalika has earned a reputation as one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar. The combination of long straights, tight hairpins, and elevation changes through 17 turns creates a layout that rewards bravery and punishes mistakes. The abrasive asphalt surface — designed to drain tropical downpours — generates enormous grip and pushes tyres to their limits.
Street Circuit Character
Unlike purpose-built circuits hidden behind industrial estates, Mandalika lives and breathes as part of a functioning resort district. The pit lane sits metres from the beach. The paddock overlooks the surf break. When the racing stops, the circuit roads reopen to traffic, and the grandstands become viewpoints for sunset watchers.
Tropical Climate, Year-Round Racing
Lombok sits 8 degrees south of the equator. Temperatures hover between 27°C and 33°C throughout the year, and the dry season from April to October delivers consistent, rain-free track days. Even in the wet season, afternoon storms clear quickly, leaving the circuit steaming and dramatic.
The $3 Billion SEZ
Mandalika is the centrepiece of a $3 billion Special Economic Zone backed by the Indonesian government. The masterplan includes five-star hotels, a world-class golf course, commercial precincts, and the circuit itself. For Roya Racing, this means our guests experience not just a track day but a destination — where a morning on the circuit flows naturally into an afternoon at the beach and an evening in one of Lombok's finest restaurants.
This is what makes Mandalika special: it is not just a circuit, it is a place where motorsport and tropical living converge.
